These concepts will be explored through creative play, art and writing! The focus of this workshop is on creating with a spirit of lighthearted fun and is full of surprises:

  • Regular Scheduled Art Classes Resume: Offering after school art classes for kids (four, six and 12 week classes). Be sure to register soon as these classes fill up quickly.
  • Basics for adults: A series of workshops that will focus on the basics of drawing, shading, perspective and composition.
  • Art Adventure Saturdays: A day packed full of fun. Several different one to two hour workshop for all ages will be offered.

Cabin Studio, White Bear Lake, SaskatchewanJourney the Yellow Brick Road (A four day self-discovery workshop). August 24, 25, 26 and 27 (10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily). Discover your own story between the pages of the book The Wizard of Oz. As we explore aspects of the characters and draw parallels to our lives, participants will be given opportunity to express personal journeys through a variety of art mediums such as prismacolor, paint, collage, journaling etc. whatever your personal journey calls you to. The focus will always be keeping in mind your personal journey toward wholeness and wellness.

Your Workshop Guides will be Priscilla Bailey and Judy Swallow. Priscilla is interested in the workings of the body, mind and heart. Her university studies were in multidisciplinary focused mythologies and motif of journey. Her formal training is therapy. Priscilla facilitates her clients in their personal journey toward wholeness and wellness. She teaches mindfulness and meditation and guides workshops that encourage explorations for discovering what is at the heart of oneself – truly a journey worth taking.

Artist/illustrator and teacher of art, Judy Swallow has recently celebrated forty years of teaching art to all ages. Judy’s Creative Journey Workshops are rich in imagination and discoveries. They are specifically created for the exploration of personal growth. Music, introspective writing and creative art expression are integral components of these workshops. More recently, Judy has launched herself into the world of book illustration, telling story through her art.

Participants will create personal art/writing journals which reflect their experiences of meditative art. The participants will be assigned visual art tasks and creative writing responses. Work can remain private but sharing creates a closer community.

Cabin Studio, White Bear Lake, Saskatchewan – The Nature of Art: Drawing Your Connection to Nature (for adults). Mornings, Afternoon and Evening Sessions (dates, times TBA). This adventure is intended to re-energize and nurture your creative spirit through creative play and connection to nature. Participants will have the opportunity to explore various art media as they reflect on nature.

A special time, Judy will be celebrating 40 years of teaching and creating with her past and present students, and fellow creators, with a Celebration Art Show! Participants will be encouraged to dig deep and discovery the creativity within. Sharing adds to the depth of these workshops, so it will be encouraged.

These workshops explore personal creativity and are designed to enable and support a creative lifestyle. There will be a minimum of four workshops, held once or twice a week. Estevan Leisure Centre (Art Room), Estevan – Beginner Acrylic Painting Classes – All about Colour. February 15 and 16, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, each day.

  • Day One, Saturday: This day-long workshop will explore all aspects of acrylic painting. Participants will have the opportunity to play with the paint. They will create a colour wheel and learn about colour families, canvases, brushes, and palette knives. The participants will then create small works that explore the terms, techniques and tools associated with acrylic painting. This workshop is about experimenting and playing.
  • Day Two, Sunday: During this day-long workshop, the participants will apply the techniques explored in the first day's session and have the opportunity to create a painting. Please note: As this is a continual workshop, there is a lot of instruction and personal exploration in Day One related to what is taking place in Day Two.
